So, I turned 48 two days ago. Been playing bass since I was 13 and work in a wedding/corporate/casino band. I run sound for the band from the stage and each player gets either a custom IEM or monitor mix. I get tired of hauling an amp rig because our FOH sounds fantastic. So I usually just use my BDDI, tuner and wireless to the board. About a year ago, I purchased a BP355. Cool device. Lots of sounds. Used it for two shows over the summer but never really worked at setting custom sounds.
Guitarist purchased a RP355 which he uses exclusively at gigs straight to the board, no amp. He loves it but isn't a techie.

So, before Xmas I messed with mine and set up some custom bass sounds using the effects and amp and cab sims. Did about 5 custom sounds that I can use for shows. Used it last night at the show. I was very impressed. I simply hook it up to my wireless receiver and ready to go. I like the minimization without sacrificing tone. I recommend this pedal for live shows if your not too hard on pedals. I use an old computer bag to carry this and my wireless, easy enough for load ins. Plus I like the XLR out to avoid using a DI.

For $160 I'm pretty satisfied.

.
They are a fantastic unit, no doubt.
The sounds produced are awesome.

I would have bought one myself if they didn't have the expression pedal. I couldn't ever see myself using it.
I went with a different brand/model of multi-effect.

I like your idea of going direct into the board with no amp.
I too am 48 yo. I'm guessing your back's about as strong as mine these days!
