Digitech BP8 : I need comments on that one fast please!

Hi! I might pick one up but I won't have the chance to try it out much before buying. I know it's old, dated maybe, not an amp modeling thing (I actually enjoy that fact)... But soundwise, noise level, etc. I'd like your comments!

The BP8 is a really nice piece of gear that is a great bargain at the around 100 bucks they generally go for, IMO better quality that anything else in that price range.
Compressor is very useful.
Preamps are pretty good considering the age and the real tube preamp is lovely sounding.
4band parametric EQ rocks, good wahs, great modulation effects, Whammy effects, delays are good and quite as are the reverbs.
I don't gig with mine much because of it's age and size so I use mine as more of a "rack on the floor" for recording.

Even though it is dated, the BP8 is probably the only multi unit I truly miss, and I've owned several Zoom units, the Boss GT10B, Korg, etc...

$20 bucks is a stupid steal of a deal, if they are going that cheap maybe I need a 2nd.

They were selling it cheap due to missing power supply, but I found one of those for $25. I don't *really* need it, but couldn't pass it up for so cheap, and can thick of a few uses I might pull out of it (the whammy stuff, volume swell, compressor, biamp and maybe as a bit of a floor preamp)

I had one back in the day.

The good: plenty of presets, some good sounds, expression pedal freely assignable to lots of parameters, fairly user friendly.

The bad: kind of noisy, noticeable delay/dropout when changing patches, tracking delay on whammy makes it not very useable, footswitches not very durable, can't change order of effects.

I've got one which has been out of action for a while with a dead power supply but a friend says he's found a replacement.

Pros and cons are summed up well above. In addition I'd say that any pitch-shifted signal has a noticeable delay which is unusable to me.

But the flexibility of the comp, preamp and EQ in custom presets is awesome, except the preamp can get quite noisy.

Since mine has been out of action I've gone crazy buying effects, so it'll be interesting to see how it gets used when it's working again.

Thanks for all your replies. I've just bought one today. I'm going to use it mostly for the compressor, EQ and preamp. I had the chance to mess with it just a bit and I think I spent my money in the right place. It cost me just around the price of a used single stompbox... Pretty cool!
