The BP200 is a newer model and they are ok, but IMO they are the bottom of the heap sound and feature wise under Boss, Zoom and Line 6. My own choice is the Zoom B2.1u, good to great sounds, more effects available and more features with the drum machine, XLR & USB outputs. The only feature it lacks is a jam along input.

How are the whammy options in the digitechs? Are they the same as a standalone whammy?

The whammy is okay but honestly...ive had a BP200 for 8ish years and I would spend your money on something else. The effects are okay buy realistically the fact that its a patch-driven interface kinda makes it a bit unusable. Plus it really REALLY just sucks tone like you wouldn't believe. My bass sounds sooo much worse tone-wise when I have this thing setup.

I've tried digitech processors before. it's not too shabby for beginners. I was surprised to learn that there some professional bass players using the digitech bp50 and the bp80 for effects. I heard that digitech is releasing the digitech bp90 sometime soon. anywho, If you're an advanced bass player, I would say go with a zoom b2.1u. it's an awesome multi-effects processor to own.

I had a BP200. It's alright. The effects are a bit cheesy... but that's how I feel about most big name digital effects, it seems.

The effects in the GNX3000 I had were better, but switching to individual boxes was way better.

Unless you need multieffects for live use, I'd recommend just trying to find good deals on individual effects.

I use the BP-80 as a cheap back up to my board, and for those casual livingroom jams where carrying alot of big gear would be silly. It's no where near as good (soundwise) as my big board of individual stomps, but for the money, not too bad, either. They are plastic, so I'd be careful there.

The old Digitech BP-8 has an awesome whammy, IMO as good as the Whammy pedal as well as other tasty stuff, and they are cheap.

I own a BP200 and use it daily for personal practice. mp3 player into jam-a-long (fancy name for aux in) headphone out, works like a charm. Can be picked up used on the cheap. There are enough patches to at least let you figure out what FX you may or may not like.

If you take the time to set it up it can be useful in a live setting.
