digitech chorus pedal gives a hiss

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a used digitech chorus pedal in good condition. I hooked it up and from amp to guitar it goes:
tuner, chorus, fuz, boss limiter.

When I turn on the chorus, it gives a slight hiss. The hiss gets louder even when I move my hand closer to and away from the strings. (with my left hand, and right hand above the pickups).

Any ideas? is this normal? is the pedal bad?

Thanks.

A certain amount of hiss is normal from an analog chorus. If it's a digital chorus then it's either poor quality or not working properly. Either way though, even with an analog pedal, it should not hiss in response to your hand's proximity to the strings. That sounds like a bad ground somewhere.

perhaps it's a problem with shielding your pickups. does this problem only occur with the chorus pedal engaged?

I tried hissing back, it didn't work. Yes it only hisses when engaged. I do think a bad ground could be possible. I don't know how to fix that problem.
