That series of pedals has just started shipping, so there isn't much poop on the street about them. They've discontinued the previous series (the one with the bad monkey), so maybe one can assume this new overdrive is based upon that one? It has the same controls, but with an additional switch for the voice.

Hmmm... Maybe their "classic" setting is the same thing as the original Bad Monkey? That pedal wasn't totally transparent, but people like to throw that word around. The other setting on the switch adds a "bigger low end." Maybe this thing will be like the bad monkey modded for bass?

my guess is it'll be a tube screamer type sound--i notice that whenever I see a "tube overdrive" pedal, usually it's a TS copy. I am not complaining though--I will definitely buy one for if no other reason that it's initials are the same as mine

Since when?
They're still on the Digitech website. From what I understand, the new Hardwire series are a lot more expensive than the X-series. They're not replacements for them, rather running alongside and aiming at a different part of the market. Where did you hear they'd been discontinued? The Bad Monkey is an awesome pedal for the price.

I just got one for my guitar rig. It's killer for guitar, more gain available than most overdrives. Haven't tried it with bass yet.

Maybe I spoke too soon. I know Guitarcenter has discontinued carrying them. They've dismantled all the displays and blown out all the demo models. The Bad Monkey and the Digidelay are both excellent pedals, I hate to see them dissapear. Maybe Digitech is continuing with them, but GC decided to drop them?

I had the same GC experience about a week ago. The salesperson told me that they were not going to carry bass effects in their stores anymore. You would have to order them online.

Seems like they couldn't sell enough of them to justify the floor space.

Interesting, they were clearing out the regular models too, though. I bought a Digidelay for $25 bucks. What a deal.
