Digitech iStomp?!

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I was at guitar center yesterday killing time before a gig and saw a new stomp box on display. It was called iStomp made by Digitech. It's a single stomp pedal with an iPod/iPhone docking station so you can download different digitech pedals and run them through the stomp box. Seemed awesome and I thought about buying it simply to try out effects this way before buying them. I wanted to read up a little about it and can't find it ANYWHERE online?!? Anyone know anything about it??

If you have an iPod/iPhone/iPad there are a TON of different options... none of them require Digitechs expensive toy. Amplitude by Fender, AmpKit by Peavey, Garageband, and so on are all apps that you can get for very low cost (under $10) on iTunes. The only hardware you will need is a "dongle" to hook your guitar/bass in. I use Peavey's ampkit link (about $25 online or at Guitar Center) and it works very, very well.

I have recorded, jammed, and performed with my iPad hooked up to my bass or guitar. You don't need the pedal board.

If you have an iPad, know that it is a very, very powerful MIDI capable device that has some fantastic synths out there for you to try at very low cost from Korg, Moog, and others.

If you want to hear some examples: GreggBummer's sounds on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

Warning: Most of these tracks are experimental.

Regards,
G

Yeah, I'm not putting my iPhone anywhere near the stage floor. Docking station makes me even more aprehensive, that means the cord can be yanked and send my precious window to the world flying mid-song.

Funk dat.

istomp

The iStomp is not an iPhone app, it is actually a hardware pedal with 4 knobs, a footswitch with a status LED, stereo ins and outs, a 9v power inout, and a data input, and it seemd fairly well constructed. The app is called Stomp Shop, which will allow the user to preview and download different pedal data to load into the iStomp, which then becomes that pedal.

I have one at present, however the app is noty available, and there is no data on the onternet. It does come loaded with an overdrive pedal config with Drive, Bass, Treble, and Gain. I also understand there will be a free delay pedal available, I am not sure how much the additional pedals will be.

I can't find the app? I typed "stomp shop" and no matches were found. I also wonder why digitech doesn't have this displayed in their website?!

odd that they would run ads for it before they were even ready enough to put info on the Onternets (my new favorite way to spell that. thanks!).

the ad i saw i thought it had an iPhone/iPod or iPad mounted on it running the software?

just looked at their site and i was thinking about the iPB-10.

iPB-10 Programmable Pedalboard | DigiTech Guitar Effects

which...... looks........ STUPID. again, the **** would i want to put as overpriced a tablet as an iPad on the floor, INCHES away from where my clumsy ass is foot flaying during playing?

nope. no thanks. Guitar Rig with a good controller is a way smarter (and maybe cheaper once you factor in the crazy duckets of an iPad) way to go.

looks dumb. no interest.

Since we're talking about this type of stuff, anyone see this?

iRig STOMP - The stompbox guitar interface for iPhone/iPod touch/iPad

It looks like it's attached from the headphone jack, like the regular iRig.

Sounds like the TC Electronic Toneprint.

From the app you send a wireless setting to the pedal and away you go. No wires and little hassle. Perfect for messing around at home. If it works well in a live setting is a different story.

Work at Guitar Center, spoke with Digitech today. it's being released at NAMM this week, app will be up for DL then, it's $150 and should be in stock before the end of the month.

I saw them on the shelf at my Guitar center last week. How'd that happen before it's on Digitech website or even GC website. Crazy

True, but from my understanding the Toneprint series is specific; you get the delay, you can download delay presets to it only.

The Digitech sounds like you can make it ANY kind of pedal you want, which is infinitely more versatile. I'm more curious as to what the pedals in the app will cost; that would be the dealbreaker for me at this point.
