Digitech Timebender users?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm really getting into post rock/ambent/noise, and have considered the timebender in my quest for becoming a wizard of time and space. I've searched, and i've seen threads about people asking, but havent really seen anyone who actually has one and uses it. I originally wanted a pitchfactor to help ease my need for cool sounds, but I just cant get past some of the tracking issues I see on youtube, this primarily --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSRaUZWiIEM. Now i know he's playing guitar, and also playing super fast, but i also dont know if i'd even end up using most of the stuff. Sure its cool and i'll know i'll noodle with it, but all the different delay types of the Timebender seem much more musical and have an interesting applications. So I guess my question is: Should i hold out for a pitchfactor, or look at the timebender. (also, any opinions on the timebender would be much appreciated).

Go for a great delay/reverb before pitch/sounds for post rock/ambient/atmospherics.

I used to own one. The tracking is kinda meh, but it sounds amazing. It will only track down to A I believe.

that was my thinking too. The digitech is a very versitile delay. Right now i'm using a visual sound H2O and it sounds great, but it doesnt have tap tempo, which i've been wanting to experiment with.

Aw really? that sounds dissapointing? were the harmonies usuable or just super glichy? I remember reading someones post about the harmonyman and how it uses Music IQ for intelligent pitch shifting. He went on to say, that it the tracking for bass was horrible and it seems the timebender uses the same technology.

Bump. I've gained a new intrest in the timebender again. Anybody else know how the delayed harmonies track? It'll either be this or a strymon El Capistan.

I use the timebender as my main delay and I am also into the post rock/ambient style of music. I like it alot, but I also haven't tried many delays. The only other one I have tried/owned (still do) is a Boss DD-3 which I run with a POG2 in parallel to achieve a crystalish kind of sound. Anyways, the pitch tracking on the timebender is far from flawless. The delayed harmonies sound fine if you play slow and use intervals that are mostly chordal (3d's, 5th's,7th's). It really sounds good on slow droning progressions played high on the neck. As said before, it doesn't track lower than open A. Past this point it just sounds like delayed rubbish.

For basic delay, I normally used the Variable Tape. I can't really say how convincingly it does these types of delays because I have never tried pedals of those type. The dynamic delays can be useful for not cluttering up basslines and such.

Anyways, it is a good pedal but I don't know if I would pay full price for one. Try to get one used if you can.

Awesome, thank you. I'm currently doing a solo thing with a six string bass and i do a lot of melody up high, I use a Jamman looper and keep the bass clean for the most part so it sits nicely in the mix. I think i need to try one out. The only other delay i have is a visual sound h2o, which sounds really nice, but its modeled after an anolog unit and lacks lap tempo which can be frustrating.

Definitely give it a shot. For what you are doing it sounds like you can get a lot of use out of it.
