Digitech Whammy Issues

Sign in to disble this ad
I have had a DigiTech Whammy for about 6 months now, and up until last week it has worked fine. Now the sweep doesn't work and I have to keep my foot firmly pressed on pedal to keep it down. I looked under the pedal and saw that one of those rubber stoppers fell off. What should I do to get it fixed?
The first picture is the bottom part with the rubber thing that fell off, the other one is the top.

(EDIT:Posted same picture twice.)

Tighten the treadle. Just use a socket wrench. And if it isnt sweeping try to recallibrate it. After that I dont know.

haha same thing happened to me. I just took both of the little pads off and stuck the fuzzy part of velcro on the base, so you dont bang metal on metal, then wallah, back to normal. This can be the least of your problems with this pedal. Mine randomly shuts off and i have to unplug it and plug it back in to work.

I would send it to Molten Voltage to get it looked at. My Whammy was fried (and I mean fried) as it had several problems. MV was able to fix it (for a reasonable price), and they have great customer service. Plus I had their great pitch limiter mods done at the same time.

Do they only fix the whammy 4? I got a broken Whammy 2 hangin in my livingroom.

I'm not sure, but it can't hurt to ask. The website is http://moltenvoltage.com/ and the email is questions@moltenvoltage.com.

IME, the worst thing about that pedal is that when you go heel down you still are a few cents out of tune from your dry sound. And no calibrating it does not fix this, I had a love hate relationship with the pedal and bought and sold it twice because of this issue.

That's interesting, my guitar player's whammy does the same thing. He'll be happy to know that there's nothing that he can do about it . My MV-modded one seems to have less of that issue, to my ears anyway.

The Whammy 4 needs to be calibrated in a particular way to work really well.

Set it on a table - set the expression pedal in the center position - unplug the cord - hold down the button and an LED will start flashing - let go of the button - rock the pedal all the way back by hand, but DON'T compress the rubber bumpers at all - then rock the pedal all the way forward and again DON'T compress the rubber bumpers - press the button again. You should be good to go.

The problem is when you try to calibrate it "by foot" and you compress the rubber bumpers during calibration. Unless you press that hard every time, you will be off pitch - especially when you let your foot off the pedal and the bumpers de-compress.
