Digitech XBW Placement

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello there. I'm new here so i apologize if this has been asked before, I asked this question in another forum but they just laughed at me so i thought i'd try here.

Basically, I recently bought a Digitech Bass Synth Wah and i can't decide where it sounds best in my small chain.

I have a Russian Big Muff(true bypass) going into my Boss GT-6B running into a cheap Fender Rumble 150(which i use the gain channel on also)

I was originally going to put it in my FX Loop but someone told me it had to go in front of the amp before anything then I read somewhere it sounded better after fuzz so I thought i'd ask your expert opinion on this (silly)question.

Thanks in advance to any help possible.

what are you using it for? i mostly use the octave setting on mine.

i run mine after my russian muff. sounds brilliant with the oct setting. (high note fuzzed, low note clean). but i dont run the muff with any of the other effects on the BSW, so in that respect it probably wouldn't matter where you put it.

but having said that it also depends on what you use your boss unit for (eg strictly modulation, or distortion etc).

**edit**
so not knowing what you use your pedals for exactly i would set it up like this.
Muff-->BSW (oct/synth)-->GT6B (Modulation)

i use setting 4, with the filter turned all the way down, and i put mine after my ODs. I like that it boosts the harmonics and makes the BSW's fuzziness brighter.

With all the different settings you can get out of it, you can probably write a book of BSW pedal placements. depends on how you use it.

Personally, I would put it absolute first, because the pedal will track best there. Putting the muff in front of it will cause tracking issues when using anything other than the octave-down setting. (believe me, I've tried).

Well, at the moment i'm just using the octave setting the most but i do plan on using more of the filters soon. I play mostly rock with fuzz almost always on.

well when you do get round to smashing the filters try the BSW before and after the muff. as i said earlier mine is after. but on the occasion when i do use the filters i havn't had tracking issues with it after the (operational) muff.
