Bad Monkey |
The danelectro transparent overdrive pedal works very well on bass. it can give your bass an edgy sound. behringer on the other hand is more suitable for beginners. |

some EHX Nano pedals are less than $50, as are JOYO. Maybe some used BBE. |
Hop on your local CL and see what's out there! Or eBay, if you do that. |
Or buy broken ones |
Hop on eBay and set your price limit should be pages of pedals on the cheap. |

How about the Behringer BDI-21? It's their answer to the Sansamp type DI boxes. I've heard good things, and have one in the way. ;) You can get them for around $20 used. While I agree most Behringer stuff is suitable for beginners, I will say I've had good luck with my FCB1010. |
Insert DOD pedals here. |
the cheap cheap new stuff mostly uses surface mount technologoy which is hard to mod. I'd go with a Boss BD-2 |
the really cheap stuff Dano cough cough is really easy to mod also i use some non modded behringer stuff and have had really good luck with them and love them. |
Try those Chinese knockoffs like Joyo or Biyang. You can find them on Amazon. |
Digitech is nice. I liked modding around with the Deathmetal. |

If you've got a blender pedal, a Boss DS-1 can be rather nice. For $20 to $30? hells yeah. |
Danelectro pedals in the metal housing... Get them used and have fun. |
Another vote for the Bad Monkey! |
There's a brand called Livingstone (i think?) they sell at a discount supermarket called Aldi on occassion. |
