Dirty Bomb or Sparkle drive?

Sign in to disble this ad
Im looking for that gritty to crunchy bass tone(think chevelle or sevendust) and been researching some distortion and od petals and came up with these two, I've seen the bassfuzz review of the dirty bomb and im really liking the way it sounds but I see a ton of praise for the sparkle drive but cant find a vid or clip of it on bass so I was thinkin maybe you guys could help me out with my choice, and maybe add some other choices, those two pedals are in about the price range im lookin for tho, around $100.

Totally different pedals. One is a heavy high gain distortion and one is a low to medium gain overdrive with a clean blend. It would help if you posted a clip of those bands you mention with an example of the tones you're after!

Cant post clips til I get home(I tried naming two pretty widely known bands that have the bass tone im lookin for), I know those are two completely different animals, just seems like they could both do what im looking for. I know what the bomb sounds like, just thinking its a bit more harsh than what Im lookin for, so I guess im just asking if the sparkle drive can make a similar tone but just more subtle, I've read that the dirty bomb doesn't do subtle very well. Any other suggestions are also welcome.

I own the Sparkle Drive and it is a nice soft clipping overdive....to my ears it is just a tad more dirty than a tube head pushed to its limits when it is set all the way up

it has a clean blend and can also be used as a clean boost...which makes it a very versatile pedal

I run mine into a EHX BBM and that combo gets fairly intense...

Chevelle yes Sevendust maybe
