DIs: Tone Hammer or DHA VT1 EQ Bass Drive?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm planning on adding a tone-shaping DI to my collection of doohickeys - can some who have experience with either/both the Tone Hammer and the DHA VT1 EQ Bass Drive share their impressions and advice? I've read a bunch here in TB about these pedals and both seem like great pieces of equipment; I'd use it as an alternative to my current chain, which consists of a BB Preamp and a VT Bass, my DI signal delivered via my amp head DI out.

Thanks!

I love my vt-2. I have a dha di-eq being shipped soon as well. The clean tube tone I get from the vt-2 is unreal. I wouldn't trade it.

I just got the DHA a week ago, and I doubt I'll ever part with it. This thing is amazing. It does EVERYTHING. Mine actually made me a sandwich the other night....

I was torn between these same two for a while, but I went with the DHA for the sheer versatility and gorgeous tone.

I have been very happy with my ToneHammer and would recommend it as a great DI and tone shaping unit, but the AGS can take some getting used to if you want transparency. I'd never heard about the DHA VT1 EQ Bass Drive before now, just did some reading and I've gotta say it looks really cool. Good luck with whichever you choose!

Thanks, all. They DO both sound great on paper - I'm heading home to NYC for a week and hopefully will get to hear how one or both sound in real life.

Dave - do you know of any shop in NYC that may have a VT1 EQ Bass Drive in stock?

Is there any more VT1-EQ sound clip available? Quite limited it seems.

I don't sell via shops, so all direct from the UK.
