Dist/fuzz w/ Blend Controls

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,
I am looking for a new dist/fuzz box, and I want one that lets me control the mix between dist and dry signals. I know the Boss ODB3 will do this, but there have to be others as well. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Oh, I forgot to ask: Do you have a price range or tonal preference (subtle/in-your-face, grindy/smooth)?

Malekko Barker Assmaster, Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie B (the blend on the ppb is very impressive).

The Supercollider does not have a blend. But it does sound good in the loop of my Barge VB-Jr!

If the MXR DI is on the list the SansAmp BDDI and Paradriver could be too.

T-Rex Bass Juice

Bazz Dazzler - if you can find one or convince Ryan to build another

And of course, you could always get a separate blend pedal and use any dirt box you want with it.

The Bass Dazzler is essentially the current Frazz Dazzler. All new Frazzes have a mix knob.

Also would add the Way Huge Pork Loin OD

Really? Hmm, learn something new every day. I bought my guitar player a Frazz Dazzler a long time ago (the old version) and Ryan mentioned the blend knob option.

It seems the Dr. Scientist line has had a few mods. The Tremolessence I have coming is of the new version too with the external gain control and treble knob. I wonder if the Radical Red Reverberator has changed at all? I have an order in for one but that's seemingly backordered for a couple months.

Sweet. I wanted to go with the good Doctor, but the lack of gain control made me gravitate toward 4ms instead.

I've had a hankering for trems lately. I've currently got my EBS for sale but won't be heartbroken if it doesn't get moved. The filter mode is so thick and syrupy. And I've wanted to try the Tremolessence for a long time now. I even had a chance (maybe still do) to buy back my old Empress and if ToneFactor had any in stock I'd probably already have a Tilt-a-Whirl from exchanging my Robotalk 2.

And then you come along with 4ms clips, (which were kickass BTW). You are an enabler nad.

Back on topic: I believe the Truly Beautiful Disaster has a blend knob.

Thanks guys. Extra big thanks to FreaqyFrequency for the extensive list.

I think I will go with the Bass Big Muff. Probably not the best sounding one, but I'm still in the experimenting phase and don't want to spend a bunch of cash on something I might end up not using.

Both of these pedals have a fantastic blend (even though the B:assmaster is a bass vol and ass vol), and an equally fantastic tone.

How much does the the Supercollider benefit from the blend? The contour knob adds all the bass back in. I've thought about putting mine in a blend, but haven't seen the need.

Though it's not a real 'blend' control, the Pigtronix Disnortion has parallel fuzz/drive which would allow you to engage, say - the fuzz side clean and introduce a higher gain distortion to have both, or vice versa.

IMO the fuzz side is pretty clean, and at '0' it engages as preamp, while the OD side is girthier from the get go.

hi there!!!

I recommend the ashdown hyperdrive (LoMenzo version).
I havent tried the "standard" drive plus, but i suppose that one also is great.

I have tried a lot of distortion pedals, odb3 and vintage rat among these, but the ashdown is definitely better, and you can get a lot of different sounds.

It also depends on what genre do you play, in the beginning i was scared it was a "metal thing", while I'm more into indie-pop rock, but now i'm definitely satisfied with it.

just blended my supercollider with the LS2... sounds absolutely NUTS now where as before it would sound a bit weird with my active basses,... could never get it just how I wanted... now it has note definition and grind
