Question Which distorsion pedal?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm trying to find the right pedal for my taste.

I'm trying to find a distorsion that is not too heavy but not weak either.

The sound I'm trying to find is something like Hysteria by Muse but also something like the bass in I Should Have Known by Foo Fighters.

Which pedal is the best between these four?

Source Audio Pro Classic Distortion. It has many different flavors of distortion/fuzz/overdrive, a noise gate, 7 band programmable eq, blend, 6 presets, morphing, hot hand action and it's red.

I love the m-80 and use it all the time, just not for the distortion.

Cool, how else do you use it? for boost? I'm thinking of getting one. I have to ODB-3 and the big muff, but I would like to try the M-80

If you like what you hear in this video I did, maybe that's the pedal for you.

Are you looking for a DI too? I use my BDDI for a little tubey grit but not full on distortion. I haven't used the other pedals though. I prefer the VT or Oxford to the BDDI for distortion. Also don't know your budget. It's pricey but the Darkglass BK3 is an awesome distortion.

Nate mendal uses a fulltone bassdrive, maybe try that if it is sound you are going for. I would go with a Sansamp, they are very versatile and have great tone. Maybe a Proco Rat if you like the sound of the bass on Circa Survive's blue sky noise album. There are a lot of options and even more opinions as far as overdrive/distortion so check out everything.

The Fulltone BassDrive I have has held up very well in one-on-one comparisons to some pretty good pedals, like the Green Rhino, Hematoma, and Sparkle Drive, during my search for a new OD/distortion. I will say the Sparkle Drive continues to impress when used in a band/jam setting. I personally do not like the distortion on the SansAmp BDDI but that pedal is very versatile and can do lots of other things, and does subtle OD ok for some situations. Mine is not on my pedal board, but I will take it along for other duties- backup of last resort, running through inferior bass rigs (especially little combo amps), straight to the PA, stuff like that.

The BDDI for it's versatility, but it's a lot of pedal if you're just looking for OD/distortion. I have never tried one, but I have heard many good things about the Fulltone BassDrive.

I have tried the Boss ODB-3, it was ok. It didn't really thrill me and I barely used it before I traded it away for some other gear.
