distortion before or after synth?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi All,
Got a new pedal coming - the Behringer BSY600 synth.
Current chain is EHX mini Q-tron - > zoom b2 (this way round as I can use the limiter/compressor on the Zoom to handle the variable output of the q-tron) -> boss chorus -> behringer overdrive.
Where should I put the synth in this chain? It's got to be after the Zoom for various reasons...
Cheers
Ric

Which reasons? I would put any tracking synth first in line, only pedal I would put in front of a synth is maybe a compressor to help with the tracking.

..I guess it could go anywhere. the zoom's my compressor though. i guess earlier in the chain rather than later's a good idea what with the tracking...

Here is what I did. My pedal board is run in two loops...

Bass goes into a Boss LS-2. Loop A runs to a compressor, then Akai Deep Impact, then Akai Intelliphase, then Bassballs and then back to the LS-2. Loop B is Little Big Muff, then Woolly Mammoth, then OC-2 then Flanger, then back to LS-2. The output goes into my peterson strobostomp tuner and out to the amp and mixer.

I can blend the effects together. Clean synth and clean grit, mashed into one, rather than sending dry into grit, then effected into synth or vice versa.

My tone has never been better.
