Bass? Amp? Cab? EQ settings?

The Bass Muff is a pedal suited for bass, the Mesa is not as far as I understand. So you may lose too much bottom end with the Mesa, only way to know for sure is to try it out.

You could always use a blender pedal to dial in your low end if you lose too much on the Mesa; the Muff has one built in.

If you are looking for an endless possibilities pedal I reccomend the WMD Geiger Counter....LOTS of tones there from crazy dirt, bit crushing, sample reducing, and has a tone bypass for even more aggresison. Can also be dialed back into overdrive territory.
