Distortion Pedal or PDDI?

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to get rid of my ODB-3 and put something on my board that can give me a mellow overdrive with little gain, but plenty of clarity. Ive dug around and am interested in the Catalinbread SFT, VT Bass, and PDDI.

With the PDDI being a DI and having a wide range of distortion to fuzz I feel as though this would be the best buy, used of course.

I run bass>tuner>baseballs>odb-3>bass big muff>LMII>Goliath 410, currently. I plan to add a phaser, synth, and flanger at some point soon. I would most likely put the PDDI at the end of my chain and keep it on constantly, using it for distortion and kicking my muff on for some fierce fuzz. Is this a practical use?

With the LMII having a good eq, would the PDDI be overkill or does the tone shaping effects of the PDDI come in handy on any rig? Id hate to spend the extra cash if it doesnt do what Im expecting it to do, which is give me a nice range of distortion and let me completely shape my tone in ways my LMII cant.

Ideas?

I think the PDDI would be a good fit for ya. But I also think you should turn your head towards the Fulltone Bass-Drive. I use it very similarly to what your describing.

Why not both distortion pedal and pddi. you might create a unique sound with this combination.
