I'm looking for an overdrive ( fuzz / distortion / etc. ) to pair with my VT bass, and bartolini active pickups. A lot of the ones that I've tried in the past seem to sound better on passive electronics than on active. I really like the clips I've heard of the wolly mammoth, but have been reading that it dosen't sound very good with active pickups. I'm assuming that one of the mammoth clones being of similar design would have this same problem. Anybody out there have some knowledge to hit me with? |

Most other overdrive/distortion/fuzz pedals will work just fine, too.

I play only active basses and have been through a ton of dirt, I've never tried a wooly mammoth. everything else, for the most part has worked just fine, aside from some low end loss, but I have blender to make up for it.

Overdrive, distortion and fuzz are indeed pretty different. I'm more of an OD man myself. I like fuzz, I just can't ever seem to find a live usage for it. |
