Question distortion predicament

Sign in to disble this ad
So...I'm finding I love the screamin guitarish topend distortion I get out of a tubescreamer but now need to preserve more of the lows....but!! I cant stand the sound of the bass distortions and bass screamers, they just sound like lame fuzzes against a guitar distortion :/ how can I use a guitar tubescreamer AND preserve lows or is there a pedal that keeps the guitar tonal distinction while including a bass boost?

Care to explain? I meant maintaining low end while the distortion is engaged.

Set it on a+b mix, connect the distortion in the a loop and leave the b loop unused, now you have a clean blend.

There are also a number of dedicated clean-blend loopers available, but they aren't as versatile as the LS-2.

Use a bass tube screamer: Badder Monkey or Green Rhino (not a bass tube screamer but it is bass friendly).

Try one of these, [sfx]:Crossover and Mix
You can mix in some clean low end without adding clean highs on top of your distorted highs.

+1 on the Green Rhino. It bumped an OCD, LPB-1, and Bass-Drive off of my board.

If you like tube-screamer like overdrive sounds and want to preserve more lows, I would say go for the Ibanez bass tube-screamer, the voodoo lab sparkle drive, or the way huge electronics pork lion.

+1 on that.

Using a tube-emulation with a distortion pedal makes a totally awesome combination. I own a hartke vxl bass attack preamp pedal and a digitech bass driver and I was able to get a pretty killer sound with this combination.

The clips I've heard of the Green Rhino have definitely got my attention...I REALLY don't need one...........but what does THAT matter...???

I use an Xotic X-Belender to blend the distortions from my M9. It sounds great!

What is this 'need' that you speak of? Your words confuse me.
