Most of the expense of a pedal board comes from the power supply.

Go to a local thrift store and grap a cheap suitcase or briefcase. Buy a power supply, and you're all set.

Or build one using 1/4" thick wooden slats, a few screws and some wood glue. Nice and lightweight, and sturdy as hell.

I built two out of Ikea shelving for my guitarist/keyboardist- they came out great and are almost the same size as my PtPro+Pt2 pedaltrain set up.

The wood came out to $10 or so for two shelves and two little packs of skinny 2x4s- he then stained the wood and velco'd it up and it came out great.

Do a search here and/or on Harmony Central for "Gorm ikea pedalboard", or just 'Gorm '. I followed the instructions laid out in those threads and by others examples for the basic idea of what to do, and it was a breeze to put together.
