DIY Pedaltrain Riser

Sign in to disble this ad
I posted this deep in another thread on another topic. Thought it might be helpful out on its own.

Easy-Peasy. DIY riser that looks great, does what it needs to do and still fits in my bag. Perfect. All over but the re-wiring. I like the channel down the center of the riser - lets you hide wires more effectively.

Enjoy!

Basic materials. I ended up using only one pack of Industrial Velcro (I had some around) and two of the three boards. Boards are 1/2" x 3" x 2' Poplar. Flat black spray paint.

Used hot glue before screws.

I'd have put little "blocks" cut to the same size as the gap between the Pedal Train strips on the two end supports.
This would help to prevent the riser from falling forward or backwards when stomping on it in a live situation.

I get the concept, but with the riser Velcro'd down on the Pedaltrain with two 2" x 5" strips, its not budging. Might as well be part of the Pedaltrain.

I suppose another way to further anchor it might be to screw metal clips into the bottom of the boards Velcro'd to the PT and have the clips anchor to the PT's rails. That would stick it in place for sure.

Something like this but metal not plastic:

Hell yeah man it's all about DIY stuff. $12 for a single pedal riser!? I hope those guys are making other stuff besides pedal risers cause I can't see a company JUST selling risers and expected to survive.

I would have just unscrewed the rubber feet at the back, bought some rubber door stops to use as spacers and some longer screws, then screw those on to increase the angle it sits at without having a have a plank of wood stuck to my pedaltrain!

Funny thing is that Pedaltrain started selling risers some time ago.

that's actually how this came up JetoFuj. there was a thread Zippy started about the Stage Trix pedal risers. and the PT one's aren't gonna be out for a bit.

i like this solution a lot. very elegant, and cheap is BETTAH.

If you mean these, they're not out yet.

DannyBuoy -

i think.... i would.... SHATTER longer screws like that. it might work for awhile, but i think it would be too unstable and breakable in the long run.

neat idea tho.

Got it all wired up - have to say the combination of riser and channel down the middle make for a mighty neat setup. Of course, the board still has a gaping hole where the VT Bass Deluxe will land when the preorders start to ship...

Busy week ahead, but will try and get a pic or 2 added showing power and signal cables in place.

VVVVVVVVVV....... TTTTTTTTTTTT......... DELUXEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

.... my board has a bald spot too.

ot - one of my favorite names for a comb over is a slang term in Japan - barukode, or "bar code", cause it looks like you could scan somebody's head and come up with all kinds of useful information.

This is how I made my whole pedalboard. I took the dinemsions of a PT and did the exact same thing that you did (except I used black house paint.) Yes, this is much more inexpensive than purchasing a PT. Wood is not as durable as tubed aluminum, so it's not 'just as good.'

i feel you guys that make your own pedalboards. it's not super hard to do own at home, and a lot of TB'era get fantastic results. there are just some things that i want to be sure they work well when i buy them. and PT's fall into that category for me.

lol... and i LOVE the hard case for my PT-1. wouldn't wanna have to look around for a good case either.
