DIY Triple True Bypass Loop

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I'm building a triple looper (my first DIY) following this scheme:

But there are some problems:
* first LED does nothing
* second and third are always on, 2.3 V, and when I hit the switch they get as designed 9V.
* Get no sound at all trough the pedal.

So it doesn't work at all

This is the current situation:

Resistors: 1k5
3PDT footswitch
9V DC JAck

Anyone got a clue what's wrong?

Has anyone ever made this pedal before? I've never had a problem in building TB loops...and I F things up all the time...

from the picture it looks like it may be that your input jack is wired incorrectly. I do that all the time on stereo jacks. Make sure the tip is the hot, the sleeve is the power jack (-) and the ring is the ground.

Good call Jimmy. It does look like it's hooked up incorrectly.

OP-Follow each part of the jack to see what it connects to and double-check your wiring.

I have used the exact circuit for loop switching.

This may seem obvious, but 3PDT switches have "square" pin layouts. Did you meter out the switch contacts so that you are sure the switch isn't turned 90 degrees from what you expect?

Yes, I metered all the switches and followed the hot signal through the circuit, which are all ok. But it gives no sound at all.

Did you do what Jimmy suggested?

A) Plug cables into the input and output, and meter between the two tips. Should be 0 resistance if all the switches are on; same with the barrels. B) Also, should be infinite resistance between the barrel and tip of each plug.

Metering in the circuit itself 1) won't tell you if the jacks are the problem, and 2) won't necessarily tell you if there is a short from hot to ground. The above tests should. This is a pretty simple circuit with really not much to fail other than miswired/bad solder joint/shorted connections.
