DIY tube DI-box?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,
I found this one while surfing on the net:
http://www.twin-x.com/groupdiy/album..._Tube_DI_r.pdf
Do you (much, much wiser electronics guys that me) think it would be worth making? I need something between bass and mixer for in-ear monitor rehearsing. I'm thinking a quality DI might be it.
I live in 220V are so the power supply needs modification but is there something else you would change? Or is there a better/wiser way of making a tube DI?
Thanks in advance,
Marko

There's some great DIs that you can get for the same price it would cost to buy all the parts needed to make one of those. The 'Tube' part is probably more of a gimmick/novelty than a useful tone shaping tool.

What features do you need from the DI?

A quality circuit makes a good DI, with or without a tube in it.

Thanks for the replies. I know good DI's are quite cheap. DIY is one important thing in this so price only is not important. I'll see if I find any other good DI projects.

IMHO a Tube D.I. isn't something i'd necessarily want to do myself. There many area's i'll cut corners, but the link between me and the house system, or me and the recording console is not one of them.
