I was Just Wondering When you are looking at a new pedal to buy does the way it looks really matter?

i know some of my choices in pedals have been only for looks but thats just me.

Not only looks, not mostly on looks, but everything is a factor when spending money on such 'wants' rather than 'needs'.

Yes, I never leave home without my lipstick....

I don't really mind what the pedal looks like its about the sound, although names can be persuading.

I bought the Goat and Hema based on reviews and soundclips on here. I knew from those that they would do what I wanted. I was right

I just lucked out that they look cool. I almost need to get a pitchblack tuner so everything is a simmilar color tho lol.

No. Nobody's going to see my pedals, so I don't care what they look like.

Size is important though. Somebody should tell EHX. Yes I am sulking because I don't have room on my board for a Flanger Hoax.

I take the pedal home with me because it sounds good, but I'm more likely to notice in the first place if she has big hoots.

Pure cosmetics on it's own rarely sways me, although I don't think any of us are qualified to assess our own level of materialism!

However, cosmetics is often dictated or limited by form and function which are utterly essential qualities in anything that I buy or use.

Hopefully you will ultimately buy a pedal for its sound much more than for its looks. Also remember superfluous pedals even if they aren't used but which are hooked up in your signal chain may degrade or weaken your signal to the amp, so best bet is to use minimal pedals, but if you use em, buy the ones which sound best, and if they're the color pink, and you play in a Metallica cover band, then so be it.

If I have two pedals that sound the same I'm gonna pick the one that I think looks better... but if it sounds good I don't really care if its an ugly piece of garbage.

I asked this because(this may sound odd)

whenever i think of a certain pedal its looks alwayscome to me be4 the name does.like when i think of flanger i think purple because i have a BF-2.this is probably because im a bossaholic tho.they should make all their pedals one color

this may not be a great idea concerning the fact that sometimes distinguishable looks can help identify a pedal on stage. if all my pedals were the same boss size with the same color it would be hard to differentiate the pedals while playing a gig. the last thing i want to think about is whether i engaged the right effect or not.

Aesthetics when it comes to pedals isn't as important as on a bass, IMO, but if a pedal looks nice, then that certainly does play a part in wether I will buy it or not. For example, my Compulator has a custom blue fade paint job - I bought it second hand, but chose it over a standard Compulator because it looked much better

To paraphrase Ben Strange:

If could sound like liquid Jesus dipped in hot butter, but if it doesn't give me a bass horn when I look at it: I'm not parting with my cash.

I think unless you're blind (or blindfolded) that the eyes can definitely have an influence on the ears.

I got a Maxon Chorus pedal, despite the fact that it's a pinkish lavender color. Now, it's starting to grow on me.
