Do you like your Boss TR2 tremolo?

I've been using Marshall Vibratrem, but I jumped on a local classifieds deal on Boss TR2. Vibratrem is ok and all, but the vibrato function is absolutely useless (at least on bass), and there's a noticable volume jump. Also, the square wave is not as choppy as Boss', and I miss that. Boss seems to have a better sound overall.

I know TR2 has a volume drop, but I read that the newer TR2s don't have that problem.
Is that true?

I've seen several volume mods for Boss TR2 and C4 looks like the easiest fix. Does it solve the issue?

I have one, I notice ALOT of volume drop. Mine isn't new though, I bought it off a friend and checked the serial number on bossarea.com and it came back that it's a 2007.

I want to use it, I want to love it but can't find any decent settings for it, there's a HUGE volume drop but I like the sound of a trem.

C4 mod may help. On my old TR-2 I installed the Monte Allums kit and found it to be a great plus for the pedal; it added a volume knob and tweaked a few parts and made it fuller sounding to me. Took about an hour to and was well worth it to my ears.

love it! but there is a bit of a volume drop, so I use it mostly with overdrive/fuzz and/or chorus.
