do you really need a bass whammy bar tremolo

I know this little stick is very useful for many guitar players out there but when it comes to bass playing should we rather bend the neck instead and leave the little stick to guitar players.

a) bending the neck can be very damaging to some basses (i assume you mean the full neck bends ala Billy sheehan, not normal string bends)

b) If someone can tastefully use a whammy bar on their bass, then all the power to them. It doesn't get done too often,(other than the use of whammy pedals, which many people do, myself included) and i'm sure there are plenty of cool applications.

c) nothing should be left to guitar players....

even billy himself had to have yamaha build the new Attitude II with a special neck joint to combat the damage he does to the necks. It's got 2 screws where the normal neck screws go and another two that screw in lengthwise under the humbucker... and I'm betting he'll even find a way to damage that.

if you want/use one, sick..but ive never found them to be usefull. it actually is more usefull on guitar..
