Do you use any pedals with V4b?

I just got one a while back and I'm wondering what ya'all are using, if anything, with the old Ampeg V4b? I can only see using a tuner at this point, but I'm clueless compared to many of you in this matter. I'd appreciate some input.

There isn't anything special about the V4B that would prevent pedal use of any type. It's just a 100W all-tube amp - a very nice one.

What effects to use all depends on what kind of sounds you want to make. If the sound of the amp itself does everything you need for the music you're playing, then you don't need any effects.

That said, a nice overdrive or boost pedal in your chain can bring out some serious growl from that amp.

I've heard some VERY nice sounds come out of a V4 with a Big Muff.

I engage my entire arsenal upon the V4BH. These amps are grateful for any signal you feed it.

First thing I'd do is boost the crap out of it,

Ernie Ball Volume -> Zvex Wolly Mammoth -> Tec-21 Sans Amp Bass Driver/DI -> Boss OC-2 Octave -> EH Bass MicroSynth -> Tec-21 Bass Compactor Compressor -> Boss Parametric EQ ..... I play in a Radiohead Tribute act and this chain into my V4BH can get pretty close to most of Colin Greenwood's sounds....with a passive bass of course. If you want really fat , deep , fuzz.... try the Zvex Mammoth.. pricey ( 359.00 ) but the subharmonics it puts out will knock drinks off any amps on stage with you ( true story ) think... Exit Music ...for a film from OK Computer. I've gone through 2 Big Muff's and the sound is nice, a little too scooped for my liking... but they were not road worthy for me. Good Luck.... the V4BH has been a wonderful amp for me, and effects seem to love it....
