Do you use a compressor with your BDDI?

Like the title says, do you?

I'm using an EBS Multicomp before the BDDI and honestly I'm starting to feel that there is no need because the BDDI seems to compress a lot by itself. I'm just curious does anyone else feel the same?

In the manual for the PDDI it says that compression might not be needed because the unit emulates tubes which have there own natural compression. Id assume that it would be the same for the BDDI.

I think it would also depend on how much gain your running on the BDDI as well.

I use a Carl Martin in front of my PBDR and RBI. Yes, there is some natural compression going on in there but when you want more you'll need an external comp. Like Atomicant said Carl Martin also helps feeding a hotter/colder signal into BDDI.

I have both the BDDI and the Multicomp and it sounded great with compression after the Sansamp. Much more definition when playing chords and when digging deep.

Tubes (emulation or not) give a constant compression effect

Most compressors have an attack time before they kick in, so pumping them into a tube (or emulation) could give some interesting sounds i imagine

As always, the "does it sound good to you" rule should always apply
