Do you use effects for for or for shaping your tone?
(I.E. Flipping on a envelope filter just for the heck of it, or turning on your distortion to add to the song)

| | | | i play in a metalband so i always keep the bassoverdrive on and for my solopart in the set i use chorus to get that dreaming sound. besides of that i don't have any pedals but if i'd have the money, i would get more. i like pedals! |

it is for fun, but to serve the song.
I mean, if you use an envelope filter somewhere for instance, it may be fun, but there's a reason for it. and the reason isnt to screw up the song! so obviously for some kind of tone!

-1 for the sansamp
Some songs require synth effect in their nature.. To give the exact feeling you've gotta synthesize..
Actually the whole thing is fun but I'd say the effects that are always on are your tone, and the effects going in/out are your fun+tone part.... If you take it to out of the world effects basis that's pure fun...
