DOD`Grunge'

Sign in to disble this ad
ok last night i jammed with a harmonica player and,,,a guy who picked up an old Lotus `Strat' copy/ Peavey 15 watt amp and a DOD grunge pedal, sez he had a bass years back, biffed thru a couple`songs'? then BS'd a bit,,well we swapped axes and i was watching his `stuff' and i said yeah let's try this grunge pedal ya have here,i spliced it in and twisted the screws(knobs for those attempting to understand) walgeewhizbang! if he didn't go off and sound like Metallica!,on my bass no less so i swapped him out for the week=one of my pedals for the,uh?,,the rather unsightly sounding GRunge' pedal,,well i tweaked and tweaked the screws on MY combo today and FINALLY! i found some 60's tone i sincerely seeked(wow! it was cool!),,anybody use have or know what i mean?

never EVER thought a `grunge' pedal would get me some 60's tone but i found it(now to either buy one of my own or figure out how to steal it,,never did find `Metallica' but that's OK i wasn't looking nec. for them anyway(what i found was COOL!)

i tried a grunge on bass.. with the distortion all the way down it was still too much haha. it was fun for screwing around with muse-ish stuff. had to boost a lot of the bass back in

yeah seems i did have to quell the high/mid but i had boxes falling out of the garage rafters(from the vibration) so i was going off,,,havent had that happen since i had a flat track Triumph 750 with dual megaphones(that i revved up),,,,,and when the old window screen came down i quit figuring the next thing down would be an automotive exhaust header(2 sets hung up there waiting for 30 cent a gallon gas i guess)

i'm amazed at what you can do with the pedals

I have a DOD Grunge pedal on my pedalboard. That thing has so much gain it's unbelievable! By itself, it sucks out way too much low end, but I have my signal split so it runs parallel to a clean signal; set up like that I can get some ripping heavy distortion out of it. One of the best $25 I ever spent.

I have the bass version (w/the parallel dry out & the blend knob)
It's got crazy amounts of gain, but the buffer in it leaves much to be desired for me.

I should look into getting it modded tho.

If you search and look i know that DanTuplip (currently going by another name) did a comparison with this pedal to an EHX English Muffin' and they sounded pretty dang close.

hey cool!

unfortunatly tonight i did not get to plug in(wah!),myself i love to hook up directly after work when i'm full of ?,,`angst'?,,,after i shower down i'd rather relax and play what i can(witch isn't much),but heck yeah!,,tomorrow i WILL hook up and see what i can find playing with the thing, definatly got some TONE

been looking at an old Peavey head with `fuzz',i can prolly buy the thing for (way) less than a hundred bucks,,anyway rather than drone on since i've had 4 beers on a crappy monday(the heat came back) i'm an oreygoniaen we like it cool, anything around a hundredF and the beavers dry out

`grunge'? ,,uh yeah.that's a `Seattle thang' isn't it?
