| | | | DOD 250 issues, need new pedal

I have been using the DOD250 for about a month, but recently it has been giving me issues with my clean sound, where you can hear a bit of distortion when listening closely. I am taking it off the pedalboard and looking for something with a similar sound but with a good clean sound. Any suggestions. willing to pay up to 100 |

| Yeah, you could get a Z-Tone booteeky 250 clone for under $100. All hi-grade parts, true bypass, and LED. He sells them on ebay.
I got my Z-Tone for $75 brand new, with a high/full freq toggle switch. Very clean, articulate sound, while retaining much of the DOD flavor. |

You could also get a loop pedal for true bypass if you're otherwise happy with the 250.

| | | | I would do the TBP mod but I have a feeling that the whole thing is on the way out soon anyway, so I may as well replace it.
the MXR Distortion + seems to be pretty similer and I have heard (ultimate-guitar review) that it works well with bass. Any one else have any expirience with it |

The Distortion+ is pretty good on low-gain settings for bass. As you increase the gain, you lose bottom end. Sound-wise, the Distortion+ is practically the same circuit, with minor changes.
Like the 250, it's a candidate for some input/output capacitor changes. But it's not bad at all without those changes, as long as you're not cranking the gain too high.

| | | I'm only intending to use it for low gain light to mild od. I use the 250 in combination with a Big Muff for the really high gain. I'm ordering some stuff off of MF soon anyway so I think I'll throw the Dist+ in the cart aside from few exceptions, you seem to be a revolving door when it comes to effects
Thanks to everyone for the help. |

I like to try out anything I can get my hands on. I don't really buy that much compared to other TBers, though.
All of my pedal shuffling is a small price to pay in the quest for the "perfect" sounds!
When it came to overdrive, I really didn't go through much at all. I bought the Boss ODB-3 on a whim (didn't like it), replaced it with the MXR Distortion+ (liked the grit, but I wanted a bit more bottom end), replaced that with a SansAmp BDDI (decided it wasn't a good match for my amp and my tastes), and finally settled with the distortion channel of my GK 2001RB head.
But the other effects...

Personally I question the sense of replacing a disto pedal that most people buy *because* it's cheap with a $100 bo-teek version that does pretty much the same thing. That's just me, though.
