DOD FX 25B ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys , I have played bass for about 7 months but my teacher and my friends say you are such a talented bass player.I'm trying to play marcus miller , larry graham , chic , jamiroquai...etc. and I want an envelope filter.I think envelope filter is the best choice for funk , for me...I can't decide : My teacher has a Mini q tron envelope filter but in my country a few people play bass , and a few of these people use envelope filter. That's the main question : Dod FX 25B or Mini Q tron envelope filter or Micro Q tron envelope filter or another thing (you can advice). And please share your think : Is my English bad ?
Note : I heard Flea uses Dod FX 25B too , and I think It's the best choice for me...What do you think about that ?

In my country Micro Q tron envelope filter's price is about 150 $ so I think my budget is totally 150 $

The filters I own aren't only Funk specific. But for funk the FX25 is cool. I really dug the MXR M82, it could do funk, but no overly quacky, and could also do some nice bubbly sounds. Outside of your budget are some truly killer filters. I have no experience with the Micro Q Tron.

There's quite some love for the DOD here on TB, that's for sure. Have you took a look at the MXR M82? Check the classifieds as well, quite some envelope filters there as well (I got mine M82 from a fellow TBer )

FWIW, I didn't like the nano bassballs at all: no low end left and not really tweakable... Maybe just not my sound..

Mhh. So FX25B or FX25 is the main question...FX25B has a low price I suppose...What about FX25 ? Do you know how much is FX25 ?

IMO the MicroQ is too quacky for funk. Hit up the TB classifieds and check out Iron Ether and 3lead Audio's filters. You can find Groove Regulators for under $150.

I have a DOD FX25. The only way I'm able to get a good sound out of it is by blending the wet signal from the pedal with my dry signal (which requires another pedal, a Boss LS-2 in my case).

Sounds very good though!

IIRC I got it for ~140 USD used (that's incl 20 USD shipping across the pond).

I think I can't buy a M82 because I have a dad ; It has the same price with my Hartke A35.I think I will buy a Mini Q tron My bass instructor uses it and gets sweet tones with its good price.

Filters are bass party-land, IMO. They're all different, most of'em good enough for bass and provide hours of knob-teaking pleasure.

I have both the FX25 and 25B and like'em both. I find the FX25 a little darker than the B model, which makes it a little difficult to squeeze in our band's music. I usually blend them though a Boss LS-2 to go around volume loss. I also have Bassballs (modded) and that sounds great. But there are tons of filters, check'em out on Youtube before buying, if you can't try them !
