how many "old" versions were there?? i just searched them on ebay, there was one lime green one that was listed as being the first model.. then the one that i have is also lime green, but with different knobs and different painting around the knobs. then theres the old green sparkle version..
do they all sound the same? has anyone tried more than one of these? is there one in particular that is THE "old one?" |

The old "flat non-sparkly green" ones do sound better to me than the later sparkly green ones. Between the flat green ones though, I don't hear any difference between the light avocado and dark green ones. There were two versions of the light avocado ones, and they are the oldest.
I have been promising a proper shootout between them for almost two years now... it just keeps falling to the back burner.

are those in age order? do you know how the cerial numbers work? mine is something like two digits, a bunch of zeros then it ends in "91," so i have to assume that must be the year it was made? same year i was born, i feel like that means i can never sell it.. |

It has some craaaaazy low end to it though. It needs a bit of taming! I have had times when i've been happily playing away, decide to flick on the filter and... The world ends. First time it happened, I totally crapped myself and made a dive for the volume knob on my amp
Great filter though

Great filter though | That was part of the fun of this filter if you ask me. Just need to make sure that your rig can handle it, and have a limiter handy. I've had an avocado, a kermit green, and a sparkle version. |

I'd like to get it to engage and sound similar to the sound that Flea gets in live clips but can't seem to tweek it. |

i really have been enjoying this filter more and more lately. i found i was getting too hung up on emulating the oldschool p-funk sounds rather than just enjoying what any given filter can do... it has a really big round sound, while not being subtle, yet not sounding too resonant...
now im just deciding on a compressor mainly for use combined with this pedal... even if that explosive low end thing is part of its character (wich i do love) i dont want to abuse my speakers too much.. |

I've owned the fx25b and the sparkly, two knob fx25, both of which lost low end, so I want to make sure one of the older ones won't suffer from this as well...

I find that my later issue has a loss of volume, but not the earlier issue.

Beyond that, I'm pretty incompatible with any of the FX-25's that I've played (To writ- the whole bottom row). |
