DOD fx25 repair?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I finally figured out the proper settings for my DOD fx25 filter (Thanks Big O!), but I've ran across a new and frustrating problem with this pedal.

The pedal takes forever to shut off! I must have hit it 15-20 times before it shutoff. Is there a piece that needs to be replaced? Is this a common problem with this pedal? HELP!

Yes, very common, the switch needs replacing. It's fairly straight forward for someone who knows how to solder. Tactile switches are cheap and from memory this one is fairly generic.

yep these switches go all time. Any repair shop should have an ample supply and be able to fix it no problem.

check on ebay, you can ger the swtich very cheap and if you have a solder gun you can replace it yourself very easy, there is another way to fix the problem but it a temporary fix, place a little piece of paper or thin cardboard between the switch and the part that you step on. i fixed many of my DOD's like that, some kept working, some didnt..

Sorry to hijack but I have another FX25 issue.

I just bought an early model FX25 for relatively cheap but it has an issue. The envelope only opens when the sensitivity is maxed out and then it distorts a lot.

The guy I bought it from said he'd had it looked at by a friend who thought it'd be an easy fix.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? Any ideas on what will be needed to fix it?

Joe

I opened up the back of the pedal this morning, and all I can see is circuit board, didn't find any switch...

So I assume that I have to open the pedal up from the switch (the part that I step on)?

I called the local guitar shop here and they wanted to charge me $50 just to open it up...I'm not real familiar with soldering, and I only paid $20 for the pedal on ebay.

You probably need to remove the circuit board from the enclosure. That means unbolting the pots and jacks and carefully disassembling the whole thing to get to the other side of the board.
