DOD FX25b Power supply question.

Sign in to disble this ad
I am looking to pickup this pedal and while reading some reader reviews on it i came across one that said do not use any other adapter other than a DOD adapter. I use a one spot on my board. Anyone here use a one spot with this pedal?
Thanks...

You're good. Very common practice.

It's also a very common practice for manufacturers to say that you'll break your pedal if you don't use their supply. Fortunately the pedal doesn't care whether the sticker on the power supply says DOD as long as the output is 9V center negative (or positive tip if you have an older unit). If it is an older unit you will need a 2.1mm to 1/8" adapter. Visual sound makes these.

I think you must have been looking at a review of the non-B "FX25", which the older versions had a center-positive 1/8" plug, and the stock power supply was 10V instead of 9. It could still be run on a normal 9V supply using a polarity-reversing cable, but it generally worked better with the proper supply, in many cases (not all).

The FX25B runs on normal Boss-type 9V.

I've used mine with a Boss adapter and DC Brick without any problem.

Cool! Thanks. Thats what i thought. I use Boss,Digitech and Ashdown pedals on my board so i feel safe now. After i posted i also found this on the one spot website:
What's a 1 SPOT?

A 1 SPOT is the original 9V DC adapter that only takes up 1 Spot on an outlet strip or wall outlet. It solves an annoying problem that people have complained about for years!

•Only takes up ONE position on your outlet strip or wall outlet!!
•Handles from one to over twenty guitar pedals (1700mA max!)
•New heavy duty output cable!
•Use with optional multi-plug cable(s) for powering more than one pedal.
Guaranteed to work with any equipment that uses one of the following adapters (over 90% of the effects pedals on the market!):
•Boss PSA, Boss ACA, Danelectro DA-1, DOD PS-200R, Dunlop ECB-03, Ibanez AC-109, Korg A30950, Morley 9V, Zoom AD-0006.**
