dod fx25b vs older versions for dub tone

I've read that the dod fx25b gives a nice dub tone with the right settings. How does the newer 'b' version compare in this aspect to the older versions?

Not sure how the B compares to the old version in that context. I can tell you the kermit green one I have can only be described as "child birth"...

Wet and sloppy.

The "B" ones aren't quite as nice as the non-sparkley avocado-green ones. But a large part of the difference is in the range of response of each pot, so it is possible to get them to sound very similar just by trying radically different knob settings.

Well the b version might not be as good as an envelop filter, but will it deliver the same low pass filter sound, yes or no?
It has the advantage of the blend knob, as you recommended me in another thread it is good to blend in a little bit of the unfiltered clean signal to the LPF sound, so that would save me the trouble of building an effect blender pedal.

I want to use it the same way Bill Laswell uses his (he uses the older version), with the sensitivity all the way down and then the bass plucked softly close to the neck so the filter never opens.
Can the DOD FX25b do that?

Yes it can do that; the blend on it is not a great blend.

I know what you are talking about! On albums throughout the years...
When he played the Middle East (downstairs) in Cambridge with Painkiller, he brought HUGE bass bins that were stationed on the sides (in a club that already has quite the sound system) and his own pair of double stacks with 18" etc., and the bass whammy. He got SO LOW you could almost count the wave frequencies. It was below hearing.
