So, I was rummaging through my pedal bag and pulled out this one. I'd never heard of the pedal before it had been gifted to me and just threw it in the bag when I got it. Got bored today and thought I would organize some of the gear I don't use and to figure out what I wanted to get rid of. Saw this big purple beat to hell box and said f*** it, let's see if it works. I plugged this thing in and good god does it sound mean. I love this pedal. The growl when the presence is turned up is fantastic. It sounded so good my girlfriend is now pissed because I was late for our lunch date with her mother because I wouldn't put down my bass. I tried to explain why I was late but she doesn't understand.
Had to tell someone.

I circuit bent one for a friend who does chiptunes -- I put in two switches, one opens up the tone, the other causes some electronic feedback. Like a lot of DOD fuzz boxes, it has an incredible amount of lows. |

They are both great pedals, no technical flaws I can hear, even for the older FX25 (circa `84 or sumthing like dat). I don't recall reading here about bad DOD pedals, on the contrary, I just remember good stuff. Not saying they're perfect, just saying haven't read any crap about them.

When I took bass lessons ~16 years ago the teacher let me use an American Metal pedal. I remembered thinking how awesome it sounded, but chalked it up to the fact that I was a new player and probably just liked the sound of distortion. Now I'm gonna have to troll ebay for one of these... old DOD pedals can usually be had for ~$30.
