First, what on earth is that call out supposed to mean? Second, did you search on "rack" or "rackmount"? No you didn't. So start there. Third, if people don't respond to an inarticulate post right away, bumping it with call outs on some totally unrelated topic will not bring you the responses you were hoping for.

The question you should ask your self is, Do I need all of the effects this has to offer? Cause you still need a $150+ midi board to be able to switch any of the effects, so your looking at least $500. You should figure out what effect you are looking for and search the forums to find what other people are using and what they say about them.

Rotting, your posts are hard to read. You'll get more responses if you write them differently.

I was obsessed with the idea of a rack mount multi effect at one point. I even bought a TC G-Major and foot controller here on the classifieds. So, I think I have been where you are at now. And with that being said, I agree there isn't a whole lot of discussion about rack-mounted effects on Talkbass, but if you venture to other places online, you'll find opinions and reviews... My gut feeling is that part of the reason they aren't discussed particularly often is that there isn't a new cycle or refresh of these units often (the xpression is over 4 years old), and on top of that there aren't legions of 'garage builder' firms, like there are with stomp boxes. edit: I think if I was looking for a low-middle end price multi rack effect, I would lean towards something newer like the Lexicon MX300.

I used to use a TC Electronic G-force, which is quite possibly the best rack unit out there. It's very clean, transparent, and versatile. The downside is that it's got a steep learning curve, and some of the effects were difficult to make sound really good on bass. It was also rather difficult to match input and output gains when used in the FX loop of my preamp. It's also REALLY expensive.

I only sold it because I ran into some trouble with the IRS, and needed about $4000 fast. I'd love to get another one - I really need lots of effects with my electro hip-hop band I'm currently playing with.

I think something used might be called for in your situation. There is this in the forums now: FT Boss VF-1 Multi effects unit for instance.

Not sure what you're getting at in referring to "controllers"... I used my Mesa/Boogie Abacus to switch between all my presets.

of course!

Was the g force in your live setup, and if it was, did you also use a dry sound at all? Like hi or lo pass filters?

It was in my live setup:

I didn't use the dry sound - when I wasn't using the G-Force, I bypassed the FX loop. I tried to get a decent envelope filter happening, but it was pretty difficult to get it to sound exactly right.
