I am trying to remember the name of a "pedal". I put that in quotes because it didn't go on the floor, it actually plugged right into the jack of the guitar, and the had another jack on top for you cord or you could actually stack these effects on top of each other. I saw these in the MF catalog like 15 years ago I think. An info would be appreciated, thanks!

Aren't those the Dan Armstrong effects? He made the orange squeeze and some others. I think it's somehow affiliated with musitronics too.

These thingies? I never used any, but always liked the concept.

Does anyone have a picture of one in use?

I've only seen them in the pictures from the Dan Armstrong site and never in person or on an instrument and I can't help but wonder just how obtrusive it can be.

I don't have a pic of one in use but i know they can't be used on Fender Strat type inputs where the input is on the face of the body but not pointing straight in.

They were always considered to be ridiculously obtrusive. Many people that liked and used them back in the day had special adapter cables made so the box would sit on the floor or attached to their amp.

Yep. But note that Dan himself never made any floor versions except for a collaboration about five years ago with a company called Vintage Tone Project. All other floor versions were built by people who either cloned his design or licensed his name (though their products may be fine either way).

Here is Tony Levin in 1980 with one

I use a Orange Squeezer clone.... stomp box with level and bias adjustment knobs.

Thanks guys! I kinda feel dumb though. I was thinking to myself that one of the effects was called the orange squeezer, but for some reason I always thought that the dan armstrong stuff were stompboxes. duh!
