Does anyone else use their Compresore like this?

Ok so was basically wondering if this is acceptable practice and to make sure I won't wreck my Compresore.

I moved some stuff around on my board and discovered that with my eq pedal before the Compresore I can set it mostly flat with just a small bump at 120 and turn up the gain and the tube breaks up nicely. It took a little fiddling with the knobs to get the sound just right but right now I've been really diggin it at bedroom levlels. Not sure if it will maintain the same characteristics at louder volumes etc but would using the Cmpresore in this manner from time to time harm it in anyway? I'm probably being paranoid, but I'm pretty noobish on the inner workings of electronics and tubes(although I learn something everyday lurking here!)

I just got a Carvin BX1500 and a BRX10.2 for myself for Christmas lol!!! It sounds great and has so many options and possibilities for later expanability but I notice the tube doesn't make much difference even with the Drive knob cranked so that's one reason I was playing around with 'overdriving' my compresore as an experiment. Can I send a really hot signal into the Preamp and get the tube in the Carvin BX1500 to break up similiarly?

Ok so sorry for asking two questions haha!?

Oops gotta go, in line to pick up my kid from school!
Hanks for any replies to my impromtu post!

Something tells me your tube pre is a clean one, not a harsh one.

Throwing in a small bump in your low mids won't hurt your gear.

Great that you got a creamy tube tone from your compressor. Can you get the tube to drive without engaging the compression/squashing your dynamics?

Newbold-

Ya bud I basically cranked up the gain on the Compresore and backed off the threshold and ratio. I mean the tube IS doing the compression and adding the overdrive so yes, it is actively compressing but I adjusted it so it's nice and musical sounding and not squashy.

The thing that bothered me though was that with the boost from the GEB-7 the little yellow compression light basically stays on solid when I play. Not to mention if I layer other dirt or filter or wah then the signal is just getting that much hotter, right? I'm not sure about this though. I just didn't know if it was 'healthy' to use the compressor in this manner. I didn't want to run it too hot and burn something up lol

Anyways, I just thought it sounds great and I haven't heard of anyone doing this with their tube compressor before so just wanted to throw this out there and see what you guys thought?

Hmm, maybe I should throw some more info out there.
