I really dig my BSW for a number of things; the envelope filter and the octaver mostly. The synth settings can be a little outlandish at times but if you can find a way to work them into a performance than more power to you. Personally, I really dig the synth settings, but then again I am in a slightly experimental band that gives me the freedom to use crazy effects like that.
Even within the confines of a normal band, one can use the synths for an intro a breakdown or whatever. I don't really use the envelope filter much anymore since I added a Q-Tron to my board but it is a solid filter if I can remember right. The number seven setting OctaSub can be tweaked to provide probably one of the best tracking octavers out there. All in all it is worth the $70-$80 that you pay for it new.

The BSW has been discussed MANY times here. You'll find a lot - a whole lot - of info by doing a search for "Bass Synth Wah" or "BSW".

Most people have found that as an octaver the BSW is excellent, but most of the other sounds are okay to lousy.

+ 1.

The octaver and envelope filter settings are great. With the synth settings, the trick for me is to set the "sensitivity" knob to 0 to get the fuzz sound without triggering the envelope filter. It also helps to back off the volume on the bass.

I found the synth to be amazingly versatile, it can go from a boomy dub sound to a Muse-like fuzz (which sounds great on its own but absolutely kills when played through my Sansamp BDDI). Top pedal for the money!

I really dig mine. I used to cover Tom Sawyer, and the synth sound I could get was a very convincing alternative.

Really a fun pedal. Lots of different (and cool) sounds that you can get out of it. Most people dig the sub tones on it, especially the sub-filter.
