Does anyone make a ODB-3 clone?

A ODB-3 clone with more tone control and actually sounds good?

I really like the tone of my ODB-3 sometimes, and would like to retain a similar tone......but with some mids and slightly less harsh high end.

Try cutting bass and treble to get more mids and rolling off the tone knob of your bass to tame the highs.

but I want to keep the lows?

The lows are one of few things I actually like about it.

You didn't say anything about the low end in your first post, but I've found that that by doing those two things I get more mids and still retain a lot of lows when using my ODB-3. Just cut a bit more highs than lows.

I'll give that a shot.....but a mid control would be ideal.....sweepable mids and sweepable highs would be genius.
not trying to be difficult.

With my basses and rig.....the ODB3 sounds good. I just wish I had more mids.

I've hated the ODB3 with all of my other amps.....not sure why it sounds good now?

I guess I like the solid low end thunder it brings, and the character of the dirt is just right for stoner rock. IMO.
Don't even use the clean blending.

It's the perfect pedal for either mods or a better sounding clone.
Everyone has one as a door stop or paper weight......just figure out how to make it sound good and you've got a gold mine.

I am considering modding my ODB3 as it has finally been bumped from the pedal board, I would like more of an overdrive instead of the full on fuzz. I did some searches for ODB3 mods:
modded ODB-3 highly recommended
FOUND SOME ODB-3 MODS INTERESTED?

How about you invest the money for a odb-3 clone for a better overdrive??? I mean...why would anyone on earth clone a $40 pedal??? There's no point.

I have yet to find a different pedal that does what the ODB3 was intended to do.
(I know it sounds like butt to most of you)

I don't want an exact copy of the ODB3. That would be stupid.

I want a clone with modifications.....
-reduce the noise
-allow for the adjustment of mids
-mid sweep
-treble sweep

I like the amount of gain it has, the type of dirt it is, and the tone in general.

I want to hone this diamond in the rough....

The following is for those handy with a soldering iron....
I have modified my ODB-3 with some of the above mods and it gets alot closer to what your talking about than stock form. You can play with the tone section a little and there is a basic mod to return the unit to flat mids and cut some of the harsh high end. I usually socket the cap responsible for the mid scoop as some like more or less ( I like more and a good friend swears by less). It brings new life into the pedal. The stock IC is actually pretty decent (comparable to an RC4558 / RC4559 on the data sheet) but after playing with combos I yanked it. Get the adapter socket and play with chips... I ended up with a stacked OP2143PA and RC4559 combo. The standard is to pull the LED pair in favor of silicon diodes but I enjoy the hard clipping of the LEDs. All in all a pretty cool circuit. I don't use mine much anymore but it blows the doors off the stock ODB all day long. If you aren't handy I recommend seeking out a friend that is and at least try some mods.... I don't know if this circuit would be worth cloning IMHO.

How about a parametric eq in the loop of a boss LS-2, I think that would be better then an expensive clone of a decent enough pedal.

+1 I didn't want to get too long winded in my reply but an EQ would work. You can't really boost frequencies that aren't there without introducing alot of noise so I still recommend the mods, but an EQ would help immensely to control the mid range.

Do you know which components need to be replaced to get the mids closer to flat?

I'll give the EQ in the Boss LS a shot tonight.
EQ before or after the pedal?
