Lately I've been looking at octave pedals. Micro Pog is the most raved about at the moment, but I'm a poor student and don't need the octave-up. I really like Timmy C's octave down tone, and he uses this pedal blended with some of the drive it provides.
However I havn't heard many good reviews from bassists, I'm just wondering if anyone out there has had a good experiance with the OC-3.

Nice natural sounding octave down, clean or dirty, and two filters to tweak to taste. I had the older, bigger one, and now the newer smaller one, and they sound identical. Great pedal.

| | | | I love mine. I use it all the time with my fretless bass. It tracks very well and I love the sound. Personally, I wouldn't part with it or trade it for any other octave pedal, even the more expensive model from EBS.

If you're looking for a great octave down pedal, you might want to check out the EHX Octave Multiplexer (XO) for a cheaper alternative to a Micro POG/POG/HOG/Whammy. I know there's a great review of this pedal along with sound clips by good sir Boo floating around here... (only a search away! ) The BSW does have some octave down modes on it, but it doesn't have just an octave effect on it. If that's your thing, it's a great pedal. I currently have an EHX HOG (clean or spectrally gated -2, -1, +1, +1.5, +2, +2.33, +3, +4oct), and an older gray EBS Octabass (dirty -1oct) fulfilling my octave needs. Although I have to admit that the HOG does wayyy more than I need to to at the moment. I have actually been considering selling it off and getting another POG, or possibly a Micro POG.

| | | | I dig mine a lot. I wish I had more opportunities to play it, but it's rarely appropriate in my band.

If you're going for the pure octave down sound, I don't think it's for you.
It has a harmonic overtone that's pitched as a major third. |
