Does anything do what the Akai Unibass does?

I'm interested in adding a doubled (6 string guitar) tone to my sound. The Unibass looks like the thing to try, but they're discontinued. I already use a few discontinued items in my setup, which makes me nervous (if something breaks, there goes my sound). It would be great if I could figure out a solution that wasn't impossible to duplicate in an emergency.

Ideally, I'd like something that takes my bass notes, and creates guitar chord tones (polyphonic, I guess. I want it to sound big and full). The bass gets routed to a bass amp, and the processed signal goes into a different amp. Distortion is cool, but I'm not interested in synth tones. I can add my own distortion downstream, I suppose.

I would consider doing this via multiple pedals, if necessary.

Help?

Are there any video clips of the POG or HOG in action, with a bass guitar? I can only find guitar clips on YouTube.

This is the micro Pog, but it does a good 'guitar impression' octave up. It has wet/dry outs so you can have a clean bass tone and a 'guitar' output also. Sounds great, espcecially with some drive on the octave up. Really natural sounding up-octave, unlike some pedals.

There is a bass demo towards the end.

+1 to the HOG, I think it's the better option -- it lets you vary the attack more plus you can hold chords or gliss. The extra footswitch for presets would also be a good idea.

If you're only looking for an octave up or a fifth, you could just get a Digitech Whammy. Send the clean out to the rest of your board and have the effected go to the other amp.
