Does Behringer Still Make The BDI-21

Sign in to disble this ad
I am lookng for a budget way of getting a warm tube type tone and can not afford a Sansamp. I have heard the Behringer BDI-21 goes for around $30.00 and I would like to get one. Does Behringher still produce and sell these ? I can't find them on Musicians Friend or any of the other online stores. Thank You

I don't know about production, but I know I can order it with no problem form thomann.de (europe).
Over here it costs 44€.

All Behringer products are widely available over here. (btw: how is availability in the US?)

I assume Behringer still produces them, and I assume they won't stop production of them anytime soon.

You might ook into an ART mic pre. it's not a stompbox, but it's got an actual tube and also doubles as a DI. plus, you can typically get em cheaper than the sansamp on the bay.

There is something going on with Behringer. They have barely introduced any new products in 2008. They opened up Behringer city a couple of years ago and it seems too big for just Behringer products. They're a private company so it's hard to track down all that they're doing. But I suspect they're focusing on manufacturing services of not just Behringer brands but other brands also. I doubt we'll know who gear they are making because they are a private company. GC (Musicians Friend, Music 123, etc) are probably working on their own line of low cost pedals - maybe just rebranded Behringer pedals. Similar to what they did for Kustom and Acoustic amps.

Yes they do. You'll have to check Ebay or something. That's where I got mine.

I hope they're still making the BDI-21 because I just ordered one on Saturday! I'm with you, P-bass. I just don't have the bread for the Sansamp, and the Behringer seemed like a righteous low-cost alternative. I'll let you guys know what I think when I get it.

Oh yeah, I got my from AmericanMusical.com. $29+ $5 shipping. Wicked.

I had an ART tube pre and found it's benefits largely psychological and visual.

From a dollars-to-impact standpoint, the Behringer BDI has been the best $30 I've spent on my rig yet.

Alright, fellas. The BDI-21 piece arrived at work yesterday and made my day very, very long. I really need to stop having gear shipped to work...

Got home, hooked up, and all I can say is wow. This thing is capable of producing crunchy, trebly distortion to thick, buttery tube-like tone and everything in between.

Let me put it this way: I went from a Happy Meal to a Big Mac in tone. Supersized. With a huge order of fries. And one big damn drink. You get the idea.

Bottom line- for $30, you can't go wrong. I've never played the SansAmp DI, and I'm sure it's not the same tone, but for the money, it sure dishes out some sweet tone.
