I haven't used one, but based on the type of pitch shifting it does, it should work just as well on chords as single notes. It doesn't do any pitch tracking so it doesn't care what you play into it. Now the PS-5 in harmonist mode definitely will not work with chords.

its digital and tracks almost anything... however due to the digital 'glitchiness' of some of its tones, you may end up having trumpets or bell sounds rather than actual 'organic' sounds. Thats half the appeal to me though, I only use it in noise settings cos it can sound like chimes, bells, the tardis from dr who, all sorts of fun stuff

so long as you don't have it set to pitch shift really high and play around the middle of the neck you can get lots of realistic sounds,... with a bit of overdrive or distortion you can mask it up and even cover a tool song pretty accurately without too much of a problem. Below the A string on my basses it does track pretty horribly and 'warp' as it tries to find the correct tone sometimes!

I think quite a few of the EHX stuff tracks polyphonics but no idea as I have never used one

Hmmm. Thank you all!

I am trying to stay away from glitch. I have some pretty crazy pedals that have that territory covered. BUT are the chimes, bells, whistles, and Tardis sounds all random or can you dial in such sounds?

Sitting around pretty bored in the middle of the night here, so I figured I would bust out some chords.

Its a lame clip, but you get the picture. Recorded with a Zoom H2 mic in my kitchen with the SVT running really quiet so it sounds a bit poxy.

Signal is just Stingray --> PS-3 --> SVT --> Berg NV610.

Clicky

Just fudging around plucking some random chords at first. Then a couple of shifts with an expression pedal. Next onto one of the weirder Tardis-ish modes and ending with a couple of clean notes that I forgot to do at the start.

Tracks fine and is easy to control etc

the chimes, bells, whistles etc are controllable,...

its really more about how far away you are shifting the pitch and where you are playing on the fretboard,...

playing above the twelfth fret on the G string with octave up for example will get you all sorts of lovely bells whistles and chimes, havent tried it but im assuming would get demented sounds on the B string trying to go one-two octave up or one-two octave down

the tardis type sounds ive generally gotten with an expression pedal rocking from one octave up to two octaves up... it just generally excels at crazy sounds thats why ive used it as such...

Karatekid25, can't get access to your mp3 sorry

hmm.. Well that sucks.

It's been so long since I did a clip of anything, I forgot where I used to upload them

I just picked the first host that came up in a google search...

Where are people hosting their clips these days?

Ok... tried a new host. Hopefully a bit less fail and a bit more play this time around.

Yay for chords

I think it should just start playing once you enter the page. If not, I give up.

Karate Kid25,
Thank you very much! This definitely sounds more natural than the POG. Although the PS-3 does have a warble with chords.

ahhh sounds exactly how I remember it with its warble and the 'bell' tone to some of the notes...

the noise track I did for the noise effects album sine nomine was basically this with turbo rat turned on plus delay and expression pedal,... sounded like the gates of hell and tardis combined to me hehe

thanks for the clip
kind of interesting that it sounds more natural than the POG, I forever wanted one but settled on the PS3, guess won't ever have an inkling to GAS for POG now!
