I'm not sure if its against policy to name names of builders we don't like, so I'll refrain from that. But I will name some builders who personally have so impressed me that it got me at the very least to take a closer look at what they were doing so I have some specific examples of what I'm talking about.
I emailed Devi Ever after buying an older 3 knob Spectatcular Aenima off the bay to see about maybe modding it and asking her about her Improbability Drive and she was nice, informative, and just an all around good person in terms of what she was about. Also on talkbass, Wilson Effects, Molten Voltage, and Malekko all seem like fantastic people just from seeing their interactions with the forum and the people in it.
So, out of the examples I mentioned, Devi Ever was really the only one I payed attention to before, but nowadays I check to see what they're doing and when I have the money, I definitely plan to buy a few things from them.
So, have any of you been so impressed by builder that it made you look a bit harder at them as someone to possibly by from? And specifically, how has seeing some of them posting on talkbass affected your opinions of them?

When I write to a company (especially a 'smaller' company) and they don't respond back, it definitely sucks.
I like working with the parts companies that I buy from b/c they get back to me within either minutes to 36 hours and answer any hacker questions I have for stuff.
If someone was a flatout d to me, I'd boycott for sure.
Business is business but customers, repeat customers, and potential buyers make the company run, period. You've got to have some bedside manner and a commitment to talking/typing w/ people as much as humanly possible IMHO.

Vex, Analogman, Frantone, etc. and that definitely makes me take a closer look at their line of stuff and makes me very likely to come back to them to satisfy future GAS attacks. It also doesn't hurt that they all make fantastic effects that I love. Chances are you've seen me blabbering on about products by all of these pedal manufacturers, with the possible exception of Electronix (can't wait to try out the GeminiDrive though and I can foresee me blabbering quite a bit about that in the future, FaceDrive too!). |

Every time I have a ridiculous question about one of EHX's products, they always answer in a timely and accurate manner. Dunlop/MXR, Wilson and Malekko also have fantastic customer service/banter. It's why I own a Carbon Copy, a crapload of EHX effects (especially non-existent pedals, such as the Polychorus), am buying a Freaker Wah, and am strongly considering a B:Assmaster. Good people make all the difference between buying a product you simply use, and a product you savor.

Mario at Robot Factory is as well. His pedals are awesome, and he has been quick to respond to all of my crazy questions and the like.

Mario seems to be pretty awesome...I mean, he makes the craziest pedals with a zillion knobs and since he's working w/ grygrx on the TLSF, it's bumps him up more! |

one builder i dont think id ever buy from purely based on the people is chicago iron/tycobrahe, although i may have misinterpreted the situation as i just skim read the thread... the dude who joined this forum seemed a little arrogant and pretty much openly tried to openly defame wilson effects because they didn't try build an exact replica of the parapedal... |
