Does this effect actually exist?

Hi all.

So, while lurking around the effects forum one day, I saw someone describe an effect that distorted the overtones of the note he played but not the fundamental, adding some sparkle to his tone.

Searching has lead me nowhere, and I have no idea what the name of the effect was. Does this ring any bells for anybody, and if so, could you tell me what it is?

Well, the Oxide can split the signal and distort (fuzz) the high frequencies while maintaining the fundamental.

I don't think Iron Ether existed when I saw this, though. The thread was from a while ago.

You can make it happen with an [SFX] X&M - its a crossover, you choose the frequency where you want you signal split and apply you effects to which ever of the two loops (low and high) you want - I used it to great effect (heh, pun) with my Blackout Effectors Musket Fuzz

It does sound like a description of the FEA Growler.

Also, the McSpunkle And Aardvarks has a mode that does this as well. The lows are passed cleanly while the overtones are run through the overdrive circuit. I wouldn't refer to it as sparkle, though. It definitely is overdrive.

Listening to the clips on the FEA website, it does sound kind of how I imagined it to sound. The Growler might have been it.

I am 100% certain the Eventide Modfactor can do that.
