Has anyone tried triggering this through the audio input with their bass?
Does it work and how well?

I really, really want a MOPHO. I've been getting more and more toward synth modules instead of effects.

I've been interested in this too. Reading the manual seems to imply that using the audio input can control sounds if the input signal is loud enough to reach a certain gate. Doesn't really say anything about how it reads pitch or anything though. So I can't imagine it reads note information, simply acts as the button on the front would, triggering whatever it's currently programmed to do.

I just purchased one of these little Mophos.

I have found the audio input is affected by the filters but you can't trigger the ocillators by the audio in. However, by using the 16 step sequencer in the Mopho, you can trigger the filter giving you a beat based effect similar to a Boss SL-20 Slicer.

This is going to be the next synth I purchase, most definitely. It will certainly complement my Lil Phatty and my new MIDI interface.

OK, I see this was a bumped older thread....

I have a Mopho and have tried a bass with it. To respond to the first post about triggering-- it works! The 'triggering' that's possible, like said in the above post, is the ability to advance the 16-step sequencer. Using the gain knob it was no problem to get the sequencer moving accurately with slowish quarter notes from a Precision. So with this you could have a 4 bar synth pad that moves with your quarter notes, though I can't see ever using it live. As far as affecting the input audio, yes it's possible to make a barely-Slicer-style tremolo, but it doesn't have the steps or rhythmic freedom (triplets, swing feel, etc) to really cop this effect. It's also possible to sequence the filter to sort of do a MuRF thing (actually not really, one being low pass the other band pass with much broader sequences, though they are preset) on the input signal, but my result was underwhelming.

What I find the Mopho has been incredible for, along with a lot of reading (and more to do), is learning about the concept of sound synthesis.

Have there been any new users of this that could give some more feedback? I tried plugging a bass into it tonight at Guitar Center and nothing came out. I would like to hear if it could be used live to play synth lines.

Pretty much all synth modules I've ever used that have audio inputs require an amplified line level. I have no experience with the MoPho so I can say whether it's the same or not.

You can use a Sonic Labs B2M Bass to Midi converter and control the Mopho through that.

It won't do that at all. You'd need to send an amplfied bass signal, but still, it won't sound like a bass played through a "synth effect", if that's what you're after. Honestly, I own a MoPho keyboard, and haven't even bothered with trying to trigger a bass tone through it, as it's loaded with tons of great synth bass sounds already. You just play them on the keyboard.

Just because, and the excitement as well. Been playing bass guitar a long time, dabbled with synths on and off, but i'm officially the synth player in a new band, and this is nothing but the good times.
