Dual Channel Fuzzes

Sign in to disble this ad
I know of a few. Basically im looking at fuzzes that can go fuzzy, and also over the top.
The ones I know of:
  • Tentacle Love Super Fuzz
  • Katanasound Super Bass Fuzz
  • Devi Ever ShoeGazer

I realize that 2 out of 3 are Superfuzz variants. Im basically looking at options to replace my Torn's Peaker with. Its not that its a bad pedal, or that I don't like it, cus I do. Its just that the "second mode" is not really what im looking for. I can get a really great grind type fuzz, and then hit the second mode and it gets really open, but when you don't play the pedal produces a sharp, constant tone. Unless the pedal's texture is either all the way left or all the way right. Then it kindof engages a gating type effect.

As interesting as the constant tone is, I don't really have a use for it, but do have a use for a dual fuzz.

I also know of the Battering Ram, but I haven't called up the vids yet to see what I think of the OD side and if it can get really nasty or not.

The Katana sound doesn't really have a dual channel it has a octave off switch which is a mod to the Supperfuzz that comes up on pedal building sites a lot as a mod for the supperfuzz circuit. The nice thing [to me] about the way it works in the Katana sound is when the octave is off the pedal gets louder So you can get a cool buzzy [Sabotage] sound then click it off and then you get this big, grindy, doomy, oldschool style fuzz.

Pigtronix Disnortion has 3 different modes, each with its own footswitch.

Most of the HBE dirt pedals have either a boost or other second mode with their own footswitch (UFO, Hematoma, Power Screamer, Full Metal Jacket, Big D)

The Damage Control pedals all have a boost mode (although they're freakin huge)

Thanks for the couple of responses I sent a PM off to the guy selling the TLSF in the classifieds (shortly after realizing that I want another "layer" to my lunchbox")

I figure if I don't get it I'll either just get a Battering Ram (the OD side seems like it will go far enought into the "grit that dissapears amongst other fuzzes" and "octave cutting fuzz" zones to be usefull) or maybe see about the katanasound (secret plans abound with that one )

I have a Battering Ram and yes the OD side can get pretty nasty. The fuzz side with the octave adds a bright boost that may be useful. I basically use the Od to trigger my Enigma and the fuzz side for straight up nasty(without the oct). I think it'd be worth checking out.

Someone posted this link to the Retroman fuzz last week- it's a Fuzzface circuit with both silicon and germanium options:

I'd love to see Malekko come out with something like that, although the enclosure size would probably have to expand.

Cool. I got that same impression from grygrx's bassfuzz.com vid.

I guess I know what my next pedal will be if I don't get the TLSF in the classifieds
